? Literally meaning something like "on that note...", ????? was originally a phrase that introduced a full leave-taking salutation. Later it became the standard parting greeting on its own. These days it is considered a little too stiffly formal to be used as a casual "goodbye" and is largely reserved for people leaving for good and couples breaking up their relationships.

? Alternative day-to-day parting greetings include: ????, ????, ???, ????, ???? and ???. After work, club activities, etc., people commonly say ?????? or ????????? to those who are leaving before or at the same time as them. If you are leaving before others, you are expected to say ??? or ????????. ??????????? is another formal option in some situations.
